About

Rate Game aims to revolutionize fan engagement by providing a platform where sports enthusiasts can rate, review, and discuss live games. With a vision of becoming the "Letterboxd for sports," the app fosters a community-driven approach, enabling fans to share opinions and connect with others passionate about sports.

Involvement

Rate Game approached MVP Masters with a compelling vision but only an idea and a tight six-week timeline for launch, coinciding with the start of the March Madness tournament. Our team took on product management, engineering, and tool integration to deliver a high-quality MVP within the set deadline, with the goal of validating product-market fit during the tournament. We successfully met this challenge by focusing on the core features, including integration with Sportsdata.io for real-time game data, Mixpanel for user analytics, and Mailerlite for email marketing.

In parallel, we prioritized the key functionalities that would drive user engagement, including rating games, sharing opinions, and enabling real-time interaction between fans. React Native was chosen for its cross-platform capabilities, while the backend, powered by NestJS, ensured smooth data management. Cloud Firestore and Meilisearch were integrated to provide fast, seamless interactions and game searches.

After validating product-market fit during the six-week period, we continued to enhance the app by adding features like threads, sharing functionalities, user profiles, following and followers, and activity tracking. This iterative approach allowed us to build a user-centric platform that can scale alongside growing fan engagement.

Ivan, Naum and their entire team at MVP Masters are first class, 110%, A+, top shelf…all of the euphemisms that you could think of when describing a group of individuals who are extraordinary at what they do. Imagine this - I came to Ivan with an idea 42 days ago for an iOS app called Rate Game, and I as I type this message Rate Game is available for download in Apple’s App Store in 175 countries (!).
